How we keep the night safe
Most companies bury this in the footer. We would rather you read it before you book, because how a room is run matters more than what is on the poster.
What we will not pretend
We do not background check, identity verify or otherwise vet the people who come. A ticket means somebody bought a ticket. Anyone who tells you their singles night is screened is stretching it, and we would rather be straight with you so you can use the judgement you would use meeting anyone new.
What we do control is how the room is run, what happens when someone is out of order, and what we do with your information. All three are below.
The rules everyone agrees to
Accepted at checkout, by everyone, before they walk in.
Take no for an answer, first time
If someone steps away, changes the subject or does not want to carry on talking, that is the end of it. No second attempt, no following it up later in the evening.
No harassment, in the room or after
No intimidation, no aggression, no persistent unwanted attention. That includes messages afterwards if you end up matched.
No photographing people without asking
And nothing posted of anyone who has not agreed to it.
What is said stays in the room
People tell you things at these nights. Do not repeat them, and do not share anyone's details.
If something is wrong
Find the host. Every night has one, they are introduced at the start, and they are not behind the bar or lost in the crowd.
- You will be taken seriously
- You will not have to explain yourself in front of the room
- You can be moved to a different table without a fuss
- We can and do ask people to leave, with no refund
- You can report it afterwards by email instead, if that is easier
How the design protects you
Some of this is policy. Most of it is built into how the evening works.
- Numbers, not names, are how the room refers to each other
- Picks are private and matches are mutual only
- Nobody is ever told who picked them
- No phone ever says you were not matched
- The big screen never shows a name
- No phone numbers change hands: we broker the introduction
- A blocked pair is never matched, at this event or a future one
Getting home
Nights finish around ten, deliberately early enough for public transport. Tell someone where you are going, as you would for any first meeting. Anything that happens between you and another guest after the event is between the two of you, and we would say the same about a match made anywhere else.
Reporting something after the night
